The Dragon's Jewel
Open Lord of Waterdeep, Lord Protector of Neverwinter, Leader of the Lords' Alliance
“The commoners need strong leaders to protect them – and to do what must be done even when it is distasteful.”
Lord Dagult Neverember comes from high station and a great house that has ruled in Neverwinter for nearly a hundred years. Cutting an impressive figure he looks tall, wise and strong, and has the force of presence to bring a room to silence or command a troop of seasoned paladins. Alongside power comes wealth and Lord Neverember is no stranger to the finer things in life, enjoying hunts, fine foods and only the best wines and spirits.
Diplomatic in most cases, he sometimes displays a temper when challenged. He seems to care as much about making money as he does about Waterdeep’s welfare and is a strong believer in the aphorism “finance is the sinews of war.”
Considered a fair ruler, he nevertheless turns a blind eye to some of the more necessary corruption among the noble houses…corruption that aids in commerce and foreign relations. His war experience comes from smaller battles in the Silver Marches, particularly in the reclamation of Mithral Hall, but he has the officer’s distaste for “hired sellswords” (adventurers) and an aristocrat’s dedication to protocol and decorum.
He spends half of his time in rebuilding Neverwinter, the former Jewel of the North, and half at home in the City of Splendors.
